Implication in in the eyes of the beholder. My post #12
did not imply that you were a member of aspired to be a member of the beautiful. It appears to me that the voter who writes in "Mickey Mouse" or "Goofy" is exercising their rights of freedom of speech.
Of course, I realize that many of the Beautiful People would prefer that anyone who does not agree with their views stay at home or move out of town.
I am sorry to disappoint you but I and several of my friends have heard "Members of the Beautiful People Crowd" make statements that clearly indicate that if you do not belong to "right social crowd", you should not speak at board meetings or town meetings or post your views to forums.
My personal beliefs are simple. The citizens right to free speech and petition is absolute. From voting Grafitti to calling POTUS Obama , a liar.
One my heroes is Harry Truman.
I do disagree with your view that controversy should not lead to stereo types because of the varying viewpoints.I don't mind controversy. But controversy to be meaningful and productive should be about ideals and differences of opinions, not about indicating individual posters fall into a certain sterotype because of their viewpoints.
Too often we have politicians like Mr. John Kerry take positions reflected in his remark "I voted for it before I voted against it".
Yet nobody puts in the Category of hypocrite.
The LWV states that politics is not a spectator sport. I agree but believe that the LWV is limited in their views.
I consider politics and political commentary to be a full contact sport. No quarter asked. No quarter given.
