Threat at Stony Brook

Does anyone have a child at Stony Brook Middle School? A very cursory note came home with students on Wednesday that stated that there had been a threat against students, teachers and administrators and they were handling it. That's it. No other information, and nothing posted on their website.

I don't have a child at Stony Brook but hearing this continues to cause frustration. A few times this year, I have heard of threats/letters/vandalism at one school or another announced through a letter to parents. However, there is never any follow-up to indicate the results, if any, of investigations. Earlier this year, there were two separate incidents at Crisafulli where we received a letter describing a note found on the playground or scribbled on the bathroom wall. In both cases, the letter indicated that the matter was under investigation but the loop with the parents never closed. Even if the culprit was not caught, at least indicate to the parents this much instead of leaving it hanging. I'm sure that privacy issues prevent the name from being released but at least tell us whether or not someone was caught. I hope you hear more info but I would not count on it.
