Default One of those moments that make you want to cry.

Because she shouldn't have to understand this, but she does. I have the *best* kids.

    Autism, again

Thanks. Oh, we were sitting on the playground after school and talking about her hair - we cut it short a couple of years ago because of the neverending struggle with tangled hair (how many moms remember/know all too well that particular battle). It's finally grown out, so I asked her if she wanted to cut it a bit shorter for the summer.

She said no, she wants to grow it out longer and then cut it for kids who get really sick, "what's that sickness that starts with a 'C'?" "Cancer?" "Yes."

She went to see the Blazers in Boston with her dad a couple of months ago; all of the players shaved their heads and wore pink helmets for the game. It really made a positive impression on her. I catalogued that for the next time someone says the actions of sports figures or other celebrities don't have an impact on young fans - they certainly can!

It's also conversations like this that help get us parents through the moments of early onset PMS...

Agreed, very touching, I wish that more adults would demonstrate this understanding!
