    Red face Stop Spewing Carbon

"Biomass burning is dirty energy - but taxpayers and ratepayers are forced to pay for these incinerators because corporations call them "clean and green."
Join our campaign against the biomass boondoggle and put an end to toxic biomass incinerators!

Sponsored by; Concerned Citzens of Franklin County, Concerned Citizens of Russell, Massachusetts Forest Watch, Pioneer Valley Preservation Coalition, Arise for Social Justice, Westfield Concerned Citizens, Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition & Massachusetts Power Shift (The Leadership Campaign).

Massachusetts voters are the first in the nation to win a successful petition drive that will get a question on the ballot to end taxpayer and ratepayer subsidies for toxic biomass incinerators. These incinerators burn trees, tires, trash and construction debris to make power -- and emit more carbon dioxide than fossil fuels, which they are supposed to replace. In the past several years, industry lobbyists got laws passed that call incinerators "clean and green" and that force Americans to pay the bill. We are changing the laws!

A citizen led campaign in Massachusetts is going to put a question on the ballot in 2010 that will give voters the chance to decide whether they want to continue to pay for these toxic incinerators that burn our forests, pollute the air, dry up our rivers, and make climate change worse."

Why are the members of the above coalition trying to do a back door maneuver to have this bill passed by the legislature in the middle of the night rather than allowing the voters decide in Nov. 2010?
